fishy ebay results

the ebay results at the bottom of my search seem a little fishy. for example: i search t100 on search tempest. there were several ebay results. i can go to the same category on ebay (Toyota/other) and none of these vehicles are listed. are they on ebay or not? i am not performing a search on ebay. simply looking through the entire category that the search tempest result was in. if i click the "other" link at the top of the searchtempest ebay ad result it does not take me to the other category. it takes you to the Toyota catogory. would someone please explain this phenomenon for me?

First, is this SearchTempest or AutoTempest you're describing? (You said ST, but posted in the AT forum.)

Then could you take a look here http://forums.searchtempest.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3 and post whatever info you can? Particularly the URL of the results page so I can see the results you're getting.

To answer your question though, the ebay results (for both sites) most certainly do come from ebay. My guess is that you're using slightly different settings when searching ebay directly as when you search on SearchTempest or AutoTempest. I'll need more info to say more though.

my question relates to search tempest. i clicked the "forum" link at the top of the search tempest page and this is the forum it sent me to. here is the url of the ST search results page http://www.searchtempest.com/results.ph ... maxAsk=max

when i look for the same listings from the ebay page i am not using any searches or filters. i am going directly to the category the ST ebay result shows to be posted in. this category rarely has more than 50 listings so it is easy to see that the same listing is not there. when i navigate to ebay the site recognizes me and has my user name on top of the page. when i click on one of the ST ebay results ebay doesn't recognize me. at the top of ebay listings it shows the path to the category the listing is in. for example: cars and trucks/toyota/other. when you click on "other" it will take you to that category. when you click on "other" in the ST ebay ad it takes you to "toyota" which includes all toyota listings not just "other". it is strange that ebay acts different when you arrive there via ST vs. going there through a bookmark or google search. it gives the appearance that you are not on the real ebay website. i mainly use ST to search craigslist and it seems to be fine for that. i can use ebay without going through ST so it is not a big problem.

As far as I can tell, clicking the forums link at SearchTempest takes you to the general forum listing (http://forums.searchtempest.com), not this specific forum. Doesn't really matter though.

Your SearchTempest link shows me 5 ebay results. Here's the first one: http://compare.ebay.com/like/1305209404 ... 2915421570

When I click the 'other' category from that ad, I get this list, which does indeed contain that vehicle:
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Other-/6059/i.html?_rdc=1

The second one is also in that category: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/vehicle- ... 43a7035cb0

I do note when you click the 'other' category link in that ad it does indeed take you to Toyota all, not Toyota other. Not sure why that is, but all that is occurring at ebay.com (which you can verify by checking the address bar of your browser).
