... other stuff.. no, IE users don't get "loads of warning messages". I've tested the applet extensively in IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari, in Mac and Windows, and the process is really quite straightforward. If you'd rather use some other search site though, I'm not stopping you. ;)

"one city at a time" flaky behav

... I'm familiar with browsershots, but I only use it for the really eclectic browsers. I have copies of IE6, 7, and 8, Firefox 2 and 3, Opera, and Safari loaded on my machine for real testing.
